Sculpting has always come more natural to me than drawing. Never have I had the chance to work with sculpting in a classroom setting before Art 202. It definitely eye opening for me. Framed Nose represents past memories associated with smells. In my own personal experience, smells are a lot more nostalgic then looking at a picture. Smells can mentally bring anyone back to an experience because of its direct relationship with our emotions and hippocampus. People tend to remember moments through significant details rather than actual feelings. The nose hanging was made from wax and the frame with wood. I then painted the frame hoping the nose drew more attention.

Depicted above are two different types of knives, which were sculpted and textured in Maya 3D software. On the left is a butchers knife and on the right is a standard kitchen knife. I normally sculpt my object rather than create a wireframe mesh from scratch. In this case each knife has three separate parts. This was my first personal project in beginning 3D animation. I was going in a cartoony direction, straying away from realistic features.

This head was textured and sculpted in Maya 3D software. Originally, the assignment given was to create any sort of basic head. In conclusion, I had started to develop my own character titled Skindiana Bones. A spoof of Indiana Jones, although the character is very skinny and clumsy. In addition, Skindiana lives in the city "trying" to solve crimes in his corny trench coat and top hat. I first started with a sphere and then used sculpting tools for facial features.

Fortunately, the manatee displayed came out better than I expected. Not having to much experience modeling living creatures the manatee was kind to me. Having the ability to walk out my front door and explore the oceans for realistic reference is hard to beat. I was able to see and touch a few manatees to get a real sense. This model was created in maya using a block sculpting method. The manatee was also 3D printed for display. I had a great experience in this class thanks to the professor.

During the printing and modeling course at UT, I acquired a internship at a 3D studio based in Florida. Luckily one of my assignments for both the class and studio matched. I was given the task to create a chinese holographic table that had a inset glass and was made of steel. After switching from Maya to Blender. I have been feeling a lot more confident with 3D software because of Blenders user friendly interface.
